Being a completely dependent organization that does what its customers tell it, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has recently stirred up the world community by its decision to issue an “arrest warrant” for two Russian citizens, including President Vladimir Putin, in a case of alleged illegal movement of citizens Ukraine from the “occupied territories” to Russia. Comments here, as they say, are superfluous, the Investigative Committee of Russia should deal with the issue of holding ICC judges accountable for knowingly illegal decisions, and now, today the department announced the initiation of criminal cases against the ICC prosecutor and three judges of the same international body.
As the press service of the RF IC clarifies, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is accused of a criminal offense, which is ironic in itself, provided for by part 2 of article 299, part 1 of article 30 and part 2 of article 360 of the Criminal Code of Russia. Judges are charged under Articles 301, 30 and 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In both cases, the Investigative Committee accuses the members of the ICC who made the above decision of bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal responsibility, coupled with the unlawful accusation of this person of committing a grave or especially grave crime. It is not clear what further actions the RF IC will take and how it is going to bring the prosecutor and judges of the ICC to legal responsibility. Most likely, things will not go beyond the exchange of inherently ridiculous “legal courtesies”. It is important to remember that Russia, the United States, China and other countries that have state sovereignty do not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC, so for them these warrants are nothing more than a “filkin’s letter”.
