The most recent development was carried out by researchers from Pusan National University in South Korea, who managed to arrive at a new production method capable of generating OLED diodes with the same resistance and efficiency, at a much lower price.
More concretely, as the researchers explain, current OLED production is not only expensive but also labor intensive. There is a lot of promise in new forms of manufacturing solutions, but so far, they have been limited by efficiency and durability issues on the manufacturing side. Well, to try to get around the problem, these researchers synthesized a reticulated hole injection layer (HIL) with more than 99% resistance to solvents. At the same time they manufactured a solution-processed red phosphorescent OLED device using it.
