Giant has unveiled a brand new range of electric mountain bikes: the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite, made up of three top-of-the-range, even ultra-top-of-the-range models. One of them is quite simply the lightest of its VTTAE offer.

The Taiwanese manufacturer Giant is launching a new family of electric mountain bikes in France called the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite. The latter consists of three models, including the Elite 0 presented as the lightest e-MTB ever designed by the brand. The Elite 1 and Elite 3 complete the offer.
The Elite 0 weighs a total of 19 kilos in size M, which is relatively contained for an electric mountain bike. This category of two-wheelers can easily reach 25 kilos or more. The manufacturer does not specify the weight of the other two models in the range, the Elite 1 and Elite 3.
Elite awards
Before presenting this trio in detail, let’s discuss their respective prices: 13,000 euros (Elite 0), 10,500 euros (Elite 1) and 6,500 euros (Elite 3), i.e. prices that are both very high, and which vary enormously from one model to another. However, this range has some similarities.
Each frame of each model is first made of carbon, a material particularly renowned for its lightness. The geometry of the frame has also been designed for a practice oriented to the Trail, thanks to a “slightly narrower top tube” which aims to improve the control of the machine, we read in the press release sent to the writing.

The same engine powers all three bikes: the SyncDrive Pro designed with Yamaha, delivering a generous torque of 85 Nm. On paper, it’s an ideal ally for making riding dynamic, lively and powerful. The EnergyPak Smart 400 battery weighs only 2.3 kg, again an interesting asset to contain the weight of the cycle.
This Elite family also features the same RideControl Go control, integrated into the horizontal tube of the frame and decked out with an on/off button, as well as a small color screen indicating the assistance mode used and the level of charge of the battery. The Ergo 3 control placed on the handlebar is used to manage the modes.
Different transmission groups
Everything can be associated with the Giant RideControl application, which notably allows access to settings and personalization of engine parameters such as torque. At the rear of the bike, the same Maestro shock with 140mm travel has been installed.
It is then necessary to look carefully at their respective technical sheet to understand what distinguishes them. Already, no model has the same suspension fork. The Elite 0 opts for the very high-end Fox 36 Factory (150 mm travel), against a Fox 36 Performance Elite (150 mm) for the Elite 1 and a RockShox 35 Gold RL (150 mm) for the Elite 3.

Same song for the saddles, sometimes telescopic, sometimes classic: the two most successful models opt for a Fox Transfer Factory and a Tranz-X Rad+, necessarily practical for playing on your riding position on positive or negative elevations. The Elite 3 makes do with a more conventional Giant Romero saddle. It is kind of a shame.
Drivetrains differ: SRAM XO1 Eagle AXS 12-speed for the Elite 0, SRAM GX Eagle AXS 12-speed for the Elite 1 and Shimano Deore 12-speed for the Elite 3. Same for hydraulic disc brakes: SRAM Code RSC, SRAM Code R and Shimano BR-M420, everywhere with 4 pistons.
Already available in France
The last big difference is in the tires: the Elite 0 wears a Maxxis Dissector tire on its 29-inch front wheel, versus a Maxxis Rekon on the 27.5-inch rear tire. The Elite 1 and Elite 3 fall back on a Maxxis Minion DHF tire up front, versus a Maxxis Dissector tire in the rear.
Giant France confirmed to us that these three models were available from us. The tricolor site already offers them for purchase in four sizes: S, M, L and XL.
