Raja Koduri, head of Intel’s AXG graphics division, will leave the company before the end of March. This became known from the statement of Intel CEO Patrick “Pat” Gelsinger (Patrick Gelsinger). Koduri himself confirmed his departure from the company on his Twitter page.

As part of the company’s reorganization, Intel has decided to say goodbye to Raja Koduri, who served as EVP and Chief Graphics Architect and Head of AXG. According to Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger, Koduri will leave Intel before the end of this month.
Prior to joining Intel, Koduri worked for AMD for a long time, and before that at Apple. He led the graphics division of the AMD Radeon Technologies Group and was specifically responsible for the development of graphics architectures such as AMD Polaris and Vega. Shortly after the launch of the Vega series graphics cards, Koduri announced his decision to join Intel, where he eventually took the position of EVP of AXG’s graphics division. Last December, Intel disbanded the division, and Koduri was returned to the role of Intel’s chief graphics architect.
“Thank you Pat and Intel for the many unforgettable memories and incredible learnings over the past five years. A new chapter in my life begins – I am opening a software development startup. News coming soon,” Koduri wrote on his Twitter page.
Under Koduri’s leadership, Intel developed Xe graphics and applied it not only to embedded GPUs, but also released Arc Alchemist desktop and mobile discrete graphics cards based on this architecture. And although the release of graphics accelerators was delayed by several months, Intel denied rumors about the potential closure of the development of discrete graphics. The company remains confident about the planned release of new products and is developing a new generation of Arc Battlemage graphics cards.
The head of Intel wrote about Koduri’s departure: “Thank you for your great contribution to Intel technology and architecture, especially high-performance graphics, which helped bring three new product lines to market in 2022. We wish you success in building a new software company around generative AI for games, media and entertainment.”
Apparently, Koduri will be developing software related to generative neural networks and their application for games, media and entertainment.
