Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, in an interview with the Financial Times, spoke about plans to launch the Game Pass subscription and the Xbox store on mobile devices. At the moment, giants such as Google and Apple do not allow third-party digital stores on their platforms, but in March 2024, the European Digital Markets Law will come into force. It imposes a number of requirements on companies, including the admission of third-party app stores to their platforms.
Microsoft plans to use this chance and be ready to enter the mobile market. It’s worth noting here that popular Activision titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Diablo Immortal will be critical in getting players from the Apple and Google marketplaces to the Xbox mobile store.
