As a Star Wars fan who likes to go to the cinema, you currently have little reason to be happy. Since the conclusion of the sequel trilogy about Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren, which was extremely disappointing for many, the franchise that is so important for Disney has been idle in the cinema. We will finally find out how the films set in the Star Wars universe will continue on the big screen on the Star Wars Celebration from April 7, 2023. However, if you prefer the home screen, you can hardly complain about the lack of supplies of Star Wars series on Disney Plus.
What is Star Wars: The Acolyte about?
Two projects in particular are currently making a name for themselves. The new real-life series with the suffix The Acolyte is set around 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace play. The focus should be on the secret machinations of the Sith. But a love story, at least as a side arm of the story, also seems conceivable.
Among the performers are: Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Daphne Keen (X-Men Spin-off Logan), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) und Power Stenberg (Rue from The Hunger Games) confirmed. The length of the episodes is apparently based on the one-hour mark, and there should be at least one season with eight episodes.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – Oscar directors get involved
The other highly anticipated Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, is sure to offer plenty of airtime for potential mature storytelling as well. Perfect conditions for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The two filmmakers recently scooped up seven Oscars for their multiverse action comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once.
They didn’t just deliver that best movie of the past Oscar season, but also ensured that best original screenplay and the best directing. As has now become known, the gifted filmmaker duo has at least one episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew staged as directors. Hopes that the series could be of a similar quality to Star Wars: Andor are justified.
