Women’s team of Ukraine won the bronze medal of the stage fencing world cup on sabers
Competitions were held in the Belgian Sint-Niklas. Members of the Ukrainian national team: Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk, Elena Kravatskaya, Valeriya Gnidasheva.
In the first round, the Ukrainians defeated Turkey (45:38), after which they snatched victory from the leaders of the world ranking – France (45:44).
In the quarter-finals, the blue-yellows were stronger than Germany (45:42), after which they lost to the Italians in the semi-finals (43:45). In the match for bronze, the Ukrainian team defeated Hungary (45:41).
This is the first award of the Ukrainian saber team at the World Cup since November 2019, when the Ukrainians won bronze in Orleans, France.
In the singles competition, Harlan lost to Hungarian Anna Marton at the 1/4 final stage. Komaschuk and Kravatskaya lost their fights in the 1/16 finals. The Frenchwoman Sara Balser took the gold medal.
