In the future, there will be deep links so that you can get to the corresponding settings page with just one click immediately after installing a program and set this new program as the default with a second click. Since Windows 11 2022 Update, there has been an entry in the Apps area in the “Default apps” sub-item in the settings app to make a web browser the default with just one click. To do this, you first look for the browser, for example Google Chrome, from the list of installed programs and select it. If you click on “Set now” in the banner, the selected browser automatically becomes the default for the file/link types HTM and HTML as well as for HTTP and HTTPS.
In addition to making it easier to set default apps, Microsoft is also working on adding new dialogs for pinning to the taskbar or start menu. A notification appears in which each user can determine for himself whether a program may be pinned to the taskbar or in the start menu or not. All of the changes mentioned apply not only to third-party programs, but also explicitly to all Microsoft apps.
