Less than a day is left before the release of the Resident Evil 4 remake, and fans of the series remember how it all began.
On March 22, 1996, the original Resident Evil game was released in Japan. Created by director Shinji Mikami, the game quickly became a must-buy on the original PlayStation. In 27 years, the franchise has become one of the most beloved in the entire gaming world, spawning seven direct sequels, many spin-offs, remakes, a bunch of movies, a mediocre Netflix series, and even its own line of spirits. Given the popularity of the franchise, it’s no surprise that fans around the world have taken to social media to celebrate and share their love for the series!
Unfortunately, the original Resident Evil is not available on modern platforms, so players cannot experience the game the way it was played 27 years ago. However, in 2001 a remake of the game was released for the Nintendo GameCube. This version has received several HD enhancements over the years and can be found on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. For those who have never come across this series, this is a great starting point and it has held up perfectly after so many years!
