Before we begin, and assuming that we are going to talk about Marvel, one of the most secretive studios, keep in mind that we are relying on rumors and reports that have not been confirmed. But it is possible that the Marvel Cinematic Universe series will experience delays.
This week the alarms went off when the dismissal/abandonment of Victoria Alonso, vice president of Marvel Studios and involved in the productions of the House of Ideas for more than two decades, was learned.
That layoff is just the tip of the iceberg of a massive restructuring Disney is undergoing not just at Marvel, but at all of its companies. However, it may directly affect upcoming comic book adaptations of Superheros of the House of Ideas.
A few days ago, we told you that the opening windows of the Marvel series scheduled for this year disappeared and were replaced by a “coming soon” on the Disney+ calendar.
Will there be delays in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
From the outset we consider that it could be due to the fatigue of the superhero cinema that the Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has already addressed. Fans are beginning to accuse the releases so followed of Marvel movies, which on top of that overlap with those of DC and others.
However, a report picked up by Variety – and which, we insist, is still a rumor – suggests that the studio plans to delay several Marvel releases for Disney + to compensate for the layoffs and post-production needs of several of them.
This year there were up to five Marvel Cinematic Universe series for Disney+ scheduled: Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Echo and the second seasons of What would happen if…? and Loki. He was also around Agatha: Coven of Chaosalthough it looked more like ending up displaced to 2024.
The report suggests that now the list has been shortened to three or four, although it seems that it is not affecting productions destined for the big screen, at least Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, which is the one with the earliest date.
We insist that everything is up in the air. It is difficult to know precisely what happens in Disney behind closed doors on these issues. We will be attentive to the announcements that Marvel Studios or the direction of the House of Mouse can make.
