Valve officially announced CS 2 and many gamers wondered what would happen to things from Counter-Strike: Global Offensiv. At the moment, the most popular shooter on Steam has a large number of items of various types.
The developers have already given answers to key questions regarding the continuation of CS:GO on the Source 2 engine. Based on official information, we can say for sure what will happen to players’ things after the release of Counter-Strike 2.
Weapon
All existing skins will be transferred to Counter-Strike 2, so players don’t have to worry about their collection. The fact that items from CS:GO will not be lost was noted by the developers during the announcement of the sequel. Old skins will get updated textures, but basically their appearance will not change much.
More information can be found on the official support page, which answers questions regarding the limited CS:2 test. It says that during the testing period you can use all the skins from your personal inventory, but they warn that at first there may be errors related to the display or absence of individual items. All such errors will be promptly corrected. Just keep in mind that skins cannot be changed during the test, so choose your favorites right away.
Cases
There is no information about the change in the loot system in the updated version of the game. Considering the popularity and income that the existing case system brings, Counter-Strike 2 is hardly worth waiting for any global changes. Old cases will most likely also be transferred to the new game, because they will drop the same skins that will be transferred to CS 2.
stickers
Both the announcement and additional information about the testing confirmed the transfer of stickers for skins. Regular stickers will not change much, but holographic stickers will sparkle with new colors, thanks to the transition of the game to the Source 2 engine.
Graffiti
Graffiti in CS:GO is not popular enough, but Valve is unlikely to give it up. Given their small number compared to existing skins, they are easier to port as they are than to be completely cut from the new game.
Gloves
Gloves in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can be obtained from the same crates that drop weapon skins. There was no information about them separately, but they will most likely be transferred to CS: 2, like the rest of the loot from existing cases.
Operatives
There was no separate information about the operatives from CS: GO, however, in the videos that Valve released during the announcement, familiar skins for special forces and terrorists flicker. Therefore, the transfer of operatives to the new engine will definitely be, and with updated models.
Patches
There is no new information on patches from CS:GO. However, given that the skins of operatives will definitely be transferred to Counter-Strike 2, it is worth waiting for the transfer of stripes. After all, patches are one with existing character skins.
Music sets
Nothing is said about deleting music sets from CS 2. But we should assume that all music selections will remain, because in the comments to the closed test it is indicated that in Counter-Strike 2 you can use all items from CS:GO.
We hope that with the help of this article we managed to understand what awaits items from CS:GO when switching to a new game engine. Tell us your opinion about the new CS 2 in comments and share what you expect from the updated game.
