At the end of March, Electronic Arts released for FIFA 23 An update that added 12 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) teams to the simulator. The developers also presented the women’s squads of Real Madrid, Juventus, Eintracht and many others.
A few days after the release of the update, several female football players criticized EA for poor quality and implausible images of virtual models. At the same time, the authors of FIFA 23 carried out a full scan of the athletes, but many of them in the simulator still do not look like themselves.
Madison Hammond, Angel City midfielder: Someone please let me know when you find me. Madison Hammond, number 99 from Angel City. Because it’s not me!
Janine Becky, Manchester City forward: ‘Found my long lost twin. Diverse, obviously”
Sidney Leroux, Angel City forward: “I know you expect the women to be grateful for giving us some publicity. But please stop wasting our time. Some of us are bald”
FIFA 23 was released in September 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The game will be the last in the series under the FIFA brand – the next part of the simulator will be called EA Sports FC. It will receive cross-play between platforms and a development cycle according to the model eFootbal by Konami.
