Buy the classic PS5 at 549€ on Amazon
For more than 2 years, the JV and JVTECH team have kept you informed of the PS5 back in stock. Two long years during which we knew that we were releasing articles that would be expired in a few minutes, even in a few seconds and which will make more people frustrated than happy. This horrible situation is finally over. If you know someone who’s given up thinking they’ll never get their PS5, you can finally tell that person to just order from Amazon!
The console shortage is over, does that mean that all is well on the production side? Yes, the health crisis has less impact on factories than before. Yes, the semiconductor market is less in crisis (although this whole industry remains under tension). That being said, keep in mind that there are still major geopolitical and ecological tensions.
In the meantime, we relax and we enjoy. Gamers around the world can get the most popular console of the moment without problem almost everywhere. Well, you guessed it, it is not on sale. Moreover, there is very little chance that you will one day be able to find a PS5 on sale before the release of the PlayStation 6. We remind you that this console has experienced something historic: its official price has increased during its operating period. Galloping inflation and the collapsed euro rate forced Sony to make this tough decision in the fall of 2022. The classic PS5 went from €499 to €549 and the digital version from €399 to €449.

The PS5: queen of video game consoles in 2023?
What is certain is that the Sony console is much more popular than its great rival, the Xbox Series X (at least in France, and even in Europe). Sales figures increase quarter by quarter as inventory fills up. And yes ! Even 2 years after the release of the new gen, the PS5 has never sold as well as in recent months! From the beginning of October to the end of December 2022, Sony announced 7.1 million copies sold. If we compare these figures to those of the same period in 2021, we are on a net increase of 83%.
In total, and without taking into account the figures for January, February and March 2023, more than 30 million PS5s have been sold worldwide. Normally, the 37 million mark should be crossed, or even exceeded if the current quarter keeps its promises. We should have more information to share with you within a week! All the goals that Sony had set itself could well be largely achieved.
That being said, even if all is well on the hardware side, it should be noted that PlayStation’s services are in a little more trouble. The Japanese firm cannot be pleased with the figures posted by PlayStation Plus: despite new formulas, new subscribers are rare. At the start of 2023, we were at 46.4 million compared to 48 million last year. It must be said that, even if the PS5 generally sells better than the Xbox Series X, it seems extremely complicated to do more attractive than Microsoft’s GamePass in terms of subscription services.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch is following its merry way, alongside the 2 giants who are betting big on technical performance. With the Switch, Nintendo holds one of the best-selling consoles of all time, neither more nor less. Now everyone is waiting for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 to see if big N can continue on this path.
