The extensive ones came with WoW Patch 10.0.7 Changes for the Retribution Paladin into the game, which should, among other things, strengthen the defensive of the DpS specs, which according to the developer statistics is the most dead on the ground. With the many adjustments, however, the Blizzard developers got bogged down in PvP and made the retaliator an excessively strong death machine with very good self-healing.
With the hotfixes of March 25, 2023, the first nerfs were already hailing, which may not remain the only ones. Because the paladin’s retribution spec is still one of the strongest ways to play in PvP by far. While the outcry from the PvP community is having an impact with the hotfixes, the damage to PvP leaderboards has already been irrevocably done.

Anyone who has been in the arena in the past few days has always encountered at least one retribution paladin. Suddenly, the Retri soared in popularity from mid-table to the top of the most-played spec in the solo arena. retribution suddenly gained several hundred points and upset the rankings in the arena.
Strengthening a game like this hasn’t happened to the developers for a long time. Nothing was done for several days. If you climb that many places, other players will continue to slide down. Therefore, a rating reset is now needed, which brings order back to the ranking list.
A rating reset is needed
A hero who suddenly appears in every game and performs significantly better than before – to the detriment of the other players. Nobody really wants that and can’t be wanted like that. Even Retribution Paladins have to admit that in any other competitive game like League of Legends, Apex Legends or Overwatch, consequences would have been drawn quickly in such an obvious case.
In the case of the retaliator, the Blizzard devs were simply too slow. Although the hotfixes did not wait until the ID reset, the balancing should have been done much faster.

A rating reset to the level of at least four days ago would be appropriate in my opinion. What sounds like drastic action is not new in the PvP area of WoW (buy now). Rating resets for individual teams or entire brackets due to win trading (e.g. two groups sign up at night and let the opposing team win on purpose) or because of an incorrect scoring system have been used more often in the past.

In the case of the “Retaliator Accident” of the last four to five days, I think this should also happen to bring justice to PvP players. The Retri will continue to be strong even after these nerfs and can continue to prove itself in the arena afterwards – and this time with fairer means. What do you think about that?
