At the end of 2022, Bose launched on the sly a refined version of its emblematic wireless noise reduction headphones, the Bose QC45. This Bose QC Special Edition uses the same technical data sheet as its big brother, with some notable differences, and is offered at the same price. Except today since these headphones take advantage of Amazon’s spring flash sales which lower its price from 269.99 euros to 199.99 euros.
Iteration of the Bose QuietComfort 45, the Bose QuietComfort Special Edition doesn’t offer anything particularly new. It copies exactly the technical data sheet of its big brother, except for the autonomy which is less extensive and the carrying case which is more flexible. Thanks to Amazon’s spring flash sales, these Bose QCSE headphones are at a 26% discount.
The Bose QuietComfort SE in a nutshell
Good quality sound reproduction Excellent active noise reduction Quality finishes and excellent comfort
Instead of 269.99 euros usually, the Bose QuietComfort SE is now available on sale at 199.99 euros at Amazon.
A Bluetooth headset that does the job
Like the QC45, the Bose QCSE are compact, lightweight and foldable headphones that are as durable as they are comfortable. It is suitable for both small and large heads and knows how to be discreet, even during long-term wear. It should be noted, however, that the ventilation is not so well managed and that the ear cups tend to accumulate heat. This headset is also easy to use with the physical controls on the earcups.
Regarding the quality of the sound reproduction, Bose hardly surprises since this headset offers the same experience as its predecessors. This is not a bad thing, however, since we have here a balanced and dynamic sound, generous in the extremes and even too much in the treble which lacks naturalness. It’s often the same thing with QC headphones for the treble, it’s a shame that Bose has still not remedied this problem.
No big changes on the horizon
The Bose QC45 (Bose QC SE, sorry…) offers one of the best noise reductions on the market that will isolate you from the outside world and lock you in a bubble that no one can burst. You should know that Bose was a pioneer in terms of active noise reduction but the manufacturer is now being supplanted by other manufacturers in this area.
Finally, let’s get to the only two differences with the QC45 and one of them is annoying. While the Bose QC45 announces an autonomy of 24 hours, it is a duration of 22 hours that the American manufacturer announces for the special edition of QuietComfort. The only added value that can be found in the latter is its more flexible carrying case, and again, this is not at all an important criterion when choosing headphones. Knowing that these two models are the same price, we would rather direct you to the QC45, except for today since the QCSE is on sale.
Although we haven’t tested the Bose QuietComfort SE, you can refer to our full review of the Bose QuietComfort QC45 which is an almost identical model.
