References to “Left 4 Dead 3” were found in the game files of “Counter Strike 2”. However, you shouldn’t get your hopes up too much, as the chances of an early announcement are still very slim.
Steam owner and developer Valve hasn’t exactly showered us with games in recent years. In addition to a new part of the “Half Life” series, many players have been waiting for information about a new “Counter Strike” for a long time.
At least the latter was finally confirmed and announced quite unspectacularly a few days ago. The limited beta has been running since March 22nd. Some tech-savvy users have now found clues to a possible “Left 4 Dead 3” in the “Counter Strike 2” files.
However, it is unlikely that these files are actually a teaser for an upcoming announcement of a new game from the Zombie Survival series if you take a close look at them.
Left 4 Dead 3 priority seems to be at the bottom
The game data found for “Left 4 Dead 3” includes various categories that provide further information. The entry in the “Severity” category, i.e. severity, is indicated with high. That sounds very promising at first glance. Much more important, however, is what Valve indicates when it comes to “priority”.
According to “Valve”, this category is set to none, which means that a new “Left 4 Dead” has virtually no priority for the developers. So how long we have to wait for a new offshoot is unclear. The company has repeatedly pointed this out in the past.

This is how it was treated at the presentations of their VR game “Half Life: Alyx”. And when “Portal VR” was announced, “Left 4 Dead 3” was also talked about. It also became known that Valve worked with “Left 4 Dead” during rendering tests of the new Source 2 engine. However, rumors of active development of a new game have been denied.
More news about shooters:
That doesn’t mean that we can never count on a new “Left 4 Dead” though, maybe the priority will change in a few years. For the time being, Counter Strike 2 is the focus. If you want to participate in the limited test phase for the shooter, you have to wait and be lucky. Because “Valve” selects the testers for the beta itself. The full version is scheduled to be released in summer 2023.
