In addition to the Assassin’s Creed series, Far Cry is certainly one of Ubisoft’s money printing machines. This is also confirmed by the milestone that Far Cry 5 has cracked after five years.
Everyone should know that Ubisoft has some brands that decide the weal and woe of the publisher. Even if not every game is a hit – with Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed success is almost inevitable. This is also shown by the milestone in the number of players, because the fifth part of the series has now cracked after a free weekend.
As Ubisoft announced via Twitter, more than 30 million players have now played Far Cry 5 and opposed the cult of Joseph Seed in Hope County. That’s not small, even if it doesn’t mean that the game has sold 30 million copies.

Last weekend should have brought the last boost. After the release of a 60 fps upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the publisher organized a free weekend during which the game could be played completely free of charge. In addition, the game is currently playable as part of Playstation Plus Extra and Xbox Game Pass.
In view of the success, it is not surprising that Far Cry should continue to be an integral part of the Ubisoft portfolio in the future. According to current reports, Ubisoft is already working on two more titles in the series. On the one hand there is talk of a new single-player title called Far Cry 7 (oh, who would have thought that), on the other hand there are rumors of the development of a multiplayer offshoot called Project Maverick, which is said to be located in Alaska. Both titles are said to be targeted for autumn 2025.
