Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard will be cleared by the FTC in April, according to forecasts by renowned analyst Michael Pachter, who also explained what the terms of the US antitrust deal would be.
According to Pachter, the decision to go to court against Microsoft was made by the Federal Trade Commission for the sole purpose of forcing the Redmond company to enter into negotiations with them.
“The issue will be resolved next month,” the analyst wrote on Twitter. “The FTC has sued Microsoft to settle with them: I expect them to drop the lawsuit as soon as the company signs a legal agreement under which it undertakes to support the PlayStation.”
Another analyst, Florian Muller, also jumped into the debate, saying that Microsoft had always intended to sign the settlement and that the FTC was suing it just for the sake of it, but now it has to drop the PlayStation damage story because any other option would be irrational.
