The next part of the series will have to wait longer than expected.
Studio BioWare has connected the team involved in the next part of Mass Effect to the development of Dragon Age Dreadwolf. This decision was made in order to speed up the refinement and polishing of Dreadwolf.
As BioWare general manager Gary McKay explains, the decision is justified. Dragon Age Dreadwolf is much closer to release than the new Mass Effect; the next installment in the series is still in pre-production.
The team involved in the new Mass Effect will be divided in two. Part of the developers led by Michael Gamble will continue pre-production; the other part of the team will help the developers of Dragon Age Dreadwolf.
It is noteworthy that for the sake of completing Dragon Age Dreadwolf, producer Mark Darra, who worked on the previous parts of the series, returned to collaborate with BioWare. Darra became the studio’s outside consultant.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf still doesn’t have a release date. The game is not expected to be released until 2024 at the earliest.
