On Tuesday, March 28, a friendly match between the national teams of Armenia and Cyprus took place. The game ended with the score 2:2.
A double in the Armenian team was scored by 19-year-old Grant-Leon Ranos. For him, this match was the first for the Armenian national team. Until the 83rd minute, Armenia won with a score of 2:1, but the Cypriots still managed to equalize and snatch a draw thanks to a goal from the experienced 34-year-old Dimitris Christofi.
The national team of Armenia is led by a Ukrainian specialist Alexander Petrakov. For this, the draw was the first with Armenia. Previously, he made an unsuccessful debut as a team coach, losing in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Turkey.
Petrakov was also remembered for his conflicts with journalists. Before the match with Cyprus, he stated that he is not obliged to explain the substitutions and decisions that he makes during the fights.
