At the same time, the company will take care of its real estate.
Electronic Arts plans to restructure, said the head of the company, Andrew Wilson. As part of the restructuring, 6% of the company’s employees will be laid off – this is about 800 people.
According to Wilson, the restructuring will affect some EA teams, not the entire company. In addition, Electronic Arts will refuse projects that do not comply with the company’s strategy; about which projects in question, is not specified. EA will also review its real estate portfolio.
There will be waves of layoffs. The layoffs have already begun and will continue into EA’s next fiscal year starting April 1st.
It is planned to spend $170-200 million on restructuring. EA expects the process to be completed by the end of September 2023.
