A terrible episode occurred in the second leg of the 1/4 finals of the women’s Champions League between English Chelsea and French Lyon.
In the middle of the second half, the Chelsea player Melanie Leupolz received a blow in the face from a rival from Lyon.
The German footballer had a nosebleed, and her whole face was covered in blood. The doctors managed to stop the bleeding, and Melanie left the field to replace.
Chelsea, in a dramatic quarter-final showdown against Lyon, first saved the game in injury time of the second overtime, at 120+8 minutes (1:2, 1-0 in the first leg), and then snatched the victory on penalties (pen. 4:3 ).
