Studio Wildcard has announced a full remaster of survival simulator ARK: Survival Evolved, which will be called ARK: Survival Ascended. The game will release in late August 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and will include The Island and SOTF expansions, Survival of the Fittest mode, and all “non-canonical” DLC maps that will appear over time.
Players on PC and Xbox Series X|S will only be able to get ARK: Survival Ascended with the purchase of the $49.99 ARK Respawned Bundle, which also includes ARK 2 and access to the sequel’s beta. This bundle will be available for purchase from the end of August and for one year, after which both games will be sold separately. PlayStation 5 owners will only be able to purchase the remaster separately for $39.99, since the second part will not be released on this console.
In addition to the game itself, two season passes will go on sale:
Explorer’s Pass ($19.99) – Scorched Earth, Aberration (Q4 2023) and Extinction (Q1 2024); Genesis Pass ($19.99) – Genesis Part 1 (Q1 2024) and Genesis Part 2 (2nd quarter 2024).
ARK: Survival Ascended will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will offer improved graphics, support for Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI technologies, cross-platform multiplayer, new events and many new content and features, including the ability to enable a third-person view.
As for the original ARK: Survival Evolved, its official servers will be closed along with the release of the remaster, but if desired, players will be able to continue playing in single player mode or on custom servers.
