Filming itself has not yet begun and is unlikely to begin in the coming months.
Season 2 of The Last of Us will be filmed in Vancouver, Canada, Deadline sources say. The first season was also filmed in Canada, but in different locations: the film crew worked in Calgary and the surrounding area.
The publication was unable to find out when the filming of the second season will start. Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel, suggested that filming could begin before the end of 2023.
It is expected that the second season of The Last of Us will be based on part of The Last of Us 2, a continuation of the original game. Much of the game, Deadline notes, takes place in the Pacific Northwest, where Vancouver is also located.
The creators of the show expect that the adaptation of The Last of Us 2 will take at least a couple of seasons. We don’t yet know how accurately the series will recreate the events of the game, but there should be more action in the second season.
Most likely, the premiere of the second season of The Last of Us will take place towards the end of 2024.
