Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova understands why Wimbledon decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to the tournament, but hopes that they will not be at the 2024 Olympics.
“First of all, I have always said that I am against the war. Of course, I’m more worried about Ukrainians and Ukrainian players. I understand that Wimbledon had a hard time last year due to the fact that they were taken points after the decision to ban. And I generally think that they (Russians and Belarusians) should not be allowed, in my opinion, to the Olympics either.”
“I just lean a little more towards the Ukrainians,” Kvitova said.
