In Lviv, the SKIF stadium hosted the match of the 19th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, in which FC Lviv hosted Dynamo Kyiv.
For Lviv, this fight was the first under the leadership of the new-old head coach Anatoly Bessmertny, who took over the team after the resignation of Oleg Dulub. The 54-year-old specialist had quite a bit of time to prepare for the fight against one of the strongest clubs in the country, but despite this, his wards showed a pretty good game.
It was extremely important for both teams to take credit points. Lviv is one foot in the First League, as it single-handedly closes the standings of the UPL championship, and Dynamo, due to a series of failures, de facto dropped out of the fight for gold medals and is still fighting for bronze at best.
In the first half, the teams failed to score goals. Perhaps the best opportunity to open the scoring was Vladislav Vanat in the 44th minute of the meeting, but the ex-Dynamo Alexander Rybka, defending the gates of the Blue-Gold Lions, saved the crossbar from a missed goal in the locker room.
In the debut of the second half, the Dynamo players nevertheless forced Rybka to capitulate. When drawing a free kick, Vladimir Shepelev threw the ball under the blow of Vanat, who strongly and accurately hit the bottom corner of the goal. Having taken the lead, Mircea Lucescu’s team gained confidence and almost completely took control of the game.
In the 87th minute, Venezuelan Eric Ramirez, who came on as a substitute, made Rybka take the ball out of the net for the second time, responding with an elegant one-touch shot to an equally cool pass from Denis Garmash. By the way, the latter also started the game from the bench, so the coaching instinct did not let down the Dynamo mentor.
2:0 – Dynamo defeated the main candidate for relegation from the elite division. Mircea Lucescu’s men continue to occupy fourth place in the Premier League standings, but now they are only one point behind Zorya. However, Lugansk still has a game in hand.
