04/02/2023 at 12:30 p.m. by Jonathan Harsch – After the credits of Super Mario Bros., a final scene should show the direction in which the sequel of the film will go. Speculation is running high, suggesting everything from Luigi’s Mansion to some sort of Super Smash Bros.
In the coming week, the Super Mario Bros. film will finally start in German cinemas. Even before the official theatrical release, there are rumors about how the film careers of Mario, Luigi and Co. could continue. Chris Pratt, who lends his voice to the plumber in the English-language version, advises Nintendo fans to wait for the post-credits scene after the film has ended. The assumption is that at the end of the strip, the next project from Illumination, Universal Pictures and Nintendo will be teased.
Follow Link, Samus and Co. into the Nintendo Cinematic Universe?
Pratt, of course, as a Marvel cast member, has experience with key post-credit scenes that tie together different characters and storylines and hint at new projects. Of course, fan speculation is now boiling up. An NCU, i.e. a Nintendo Cinematic Universe, in which one franchise after another could be introduced, would be particularly interesting. But the tone of different games like Metroid and Kirby doesn’t really match, unless all characters are trivialized.

More likely, Illumination will explore other aspects of the Mario universe. For example, with Super Mario Galaxy, the studio could shoot completely freely in terms of the setting. Or Mario’s brother comes to the fore with a Luigi’s Mansion film. There are definitely many possibilities.
Super Mario Bros. can be seen in German cinemas from April 5th. If you want to jump on the Mario train beforehand, you can do so in the form of a special switch bundle. This includes a Mario themed console, the Super Mario Odyssey game and a special movie goodie. The package is already available.
