A move upmarket that is felt
With a higher price than its predecessor, the Galaxy A54 must justify this increase. This new mid-range relies on more noble materials, and is adorned with a glass back that brings a premium touch. Speaking of its back, this copies the look of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus, with cameras seamlessly integrated and melted into the back of the phone.
It also approaches the format of the S23, and goes from a diagonal of 6.5 inches to 6.4 inches. During our handling, we found it less massive with a better grip. Its panel is always a delight, AMOLED and 120 Hz, it offers increased brightness (1,000 nits, against 800 previously).
An efficient smartphone over time
To run its device, the South Korean firm integrates the Exynos 1380 chip, coupled with 8 GB of RAM. The performance gains are not communicated by the brand, but the Galaxy A54 should be more responsive and fluid on a daily basis. It should last a good number of years with four years of major updates and five years of security updates. And if 5G compatibility is part of it, this model can now also accommodate an e-sim.
For the rest, the phone incorporates a new 50 megapixel sensor, supposed to allow better quality night photos. We are also entitled to an ultra wide-angle of 12 megapixels, a macro of 5 megapixels. Finally, with a 5,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy A54 should be able to last a day without flinching. The charger meanwhile is 25 W.
