The Qt Company announced the release of an update to the Qt 6.5 framework with support for Windows 10 and above, macOS 10 and above, Linux, iOS and above, Android 8 and above, webOS and QNX platforms. This version has received the status of LTS – therefore, owners of commercial licenses will receive relevant updates over the next three years.
There are enough major changes in the Qt 6.5 framework. One of the most notable is the addition of dark theme support for Windows and automatic color scheme switching.
The Material style for Android has been updated to the Material 3 standard. Apps built on the Material design system will automatically get the new look and feel. In the case of Apple devices, there are also some additions: the set of elements for iOS has been expanded, and applications for macOS using QMessageBox and QErrorMessage will show standard dialog boxes for the operating system.
The developers of the Qt 6.5 framework also added support for Android 12, so now the built application will work equally well on any version of Android from 8 to 12.
QtWebEngine has been updated to Chromium 108 with the Chromium 110 security patch. The authors announced full support for hardware accelerated video rendering on Linux under Vulkan, including Wayland and X11.
In the new version of the framework, the Qt Quick Effects module allows developers to combine multiple effects into one without losing performance. You can also create your own effects from scratch or use templates from the Qt Quick Effect Market.
Qt 6.5 stabilized and made fully supported the Qt Quick 3D Physics module, which provides an API for simulating physics processes that can be used with Qt Quick 3D to interact and move objects realistically in 3D scenes. All this is implemented on the PhysX engine.

The developers also announced a lot of work done to improve stability and close over 3500 error reports. An updated version of the framework is available for download on the company’s official website or from the Qt installer.
