On the page of the “New Channel” on Instagram, a selection of information from the biography of the famous writer Oles Gonchar was published, which turned out to be a fake and has already been deleted. The administration of the public accuses ChatGPT of fake. Recognizing the fake, the channel published a new post on Instagram, in which it accused ChatGPT of providing false information.
“Interesting” information begins directly with the birth of the writer. It was alleged that Gonchar was born in the village of Sosnitsa, Chernihiv region. Attentive users noticed that the writer was born in the Dnipro region, in a village that later became part of the city of Dnipro. Alexander Dovzhenko was born in Sosnitsa.
It was also alleged that Oles Gonchar was taken to Germany for forced labor, then somehow captured by the Americans, where he studied English and became interested in reading literature. The front-line soldier Gonchar was indeed held by the Germans (in captivity), but there are no works, let alone Americans, in his biography.
Until 1990, when Gonchar joined the People’s Movement, he was a member of the CPSU and a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. These facts ruled out the human rights activities attributed to him – Gonchar could not lead the Helsinki Group in any way. Also, he was not a professor at the Department of Art History at Kyiv University, but was a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The fake was first noticed by Instagram user Aleksey Ekimenko, who first published a refutation.
