Intel retained the title of the most valuable brand in the semiconductor industry in 2022. True, TSMC, which took second place in the ranking, only slightly lost to the American giant. These are the results of a study conducted by Brand Finance analysts.
At the end of 2022, the Intel brand fell in price by 10% to $22.9 billion, while TSMC added in price by 5% and reached $21.6 billion. The third was NVIDIA, which was valued at $16.9 billion. SK also entered the top ten hynix, Qualcomm, Broadcom, AMD, ASML, Micron and Texas Instruments.
The authors of the report note that the Intel brand is focused on the consumer market – the company supplies components for laptops and desktops, although it also has a strong position in the server and industrial segments. Meanwhile, TSMC is a B2B brand, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer that manufactures products for Apple, AMD, NVIDIA and other companies.
The fastest growth in the semiconductor industry in 2022 was demonstrated by the American Broadcom brand, which immediately rose in price by 29% to $8.2 billion. The company, according to analysts, owes its success to the growing demand for network equipment and components for data transmission. The American Analog Devices turned out to be the second in terms of growth rates – the brand debuted in the ranking, having risen in price by 21% to $1.9 billion.
The key to success for semiconductor manufacturers is to maintain technological superiority, concern for production efficiency and, of course, good relations with governments interested in their products, said Alex Haigh, director of valuation at Brand Finance.
