The first gameplay video of Life by You, the management system that challenges The Sims, has aroused the curiosity of the many fans of the genre. Rod Humble of Paradox Tecnonic then reveals important background on the initial development stages of this interesting sim-life experience.
The top executive of the Paradox subsidiary that is shaping this project explains that in Life by You there will be no violence of any kind or reference to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, Humble underlines how “we have removed any type of death due to illness or ‘unfortunate events’ precisely because of the Coronavirus. At the beginning (before the COVID-19 pandemic, ed) we thought of introducing this function for the NPCs and the characters of Life by You, but then we realized it wasn’t right anymore.”
Returning to the gameplay dynamics that we will be able to experience in Life by You, the exponent of Paradox Tecnonic explains that “there are already so many games out there that manage to deal much better with aspects such as violence or the dark side of life than every day. And then we are developing a sim-life where you can start your own family, and we don’t want people to see something terrible happen to their granny! This was not what we wanted, so yes, we are trying to make Life by You must find a place that is as beautiful as possible. Of course, natural death is part of the game because it is a fundamental aspect of life, but like every other aspect of our game it will be a choice that will be up to the players. When the time comes, you can simply tell the grim reaper to leave and come back another time!”.
Il Life by You launch is scheduled for September 12 on PC, with the start of the Early Access phase which will take place simultaneously on Steam and the Epic Games Store. In addition to the lack of violence, the beating heart of the gaming experience promised by Paradox Tecnonic will be represented by the mods, with relatively simple development tools to master and many options for creating and sharing fan-made expansions for free.
