As much as it was appreciated by the ranks of fans of the genre, Tekken 7 it does not present the possibility of cross-play between the various platforms and has never implemented the rollback netcode, one of the features now crucial for an optimal experience in fighting games.
Fans of the series will be pleased to know that both cross-play and netcode rollback will be present in Tekken 8, the new chapter of the Bandai Namco Entertainment franchise expected on PC and consoles. This will allow players to connect and compete online, regardless of platform, while enjoying the netcode stability offered by the netcode rollback we are seeing in more and more fighting games.
The confirmation comes directly from Katsuhiro Harada, general manager of Bandai Namco Entertainment, who broke the news on Twitter with a particularly lively post. As you can see via the twitter below, Harada has removed a few pebbles from his shoe pointing the finger at fans of the genre.
“We have already introduced [il rollback], and the reason we don’t make big announcements about it is that people like you are only going to say things like ‘waaaa! It’s a normal thing these days.’ So shut up and stay in your place,” Harada told a user who quietly asked about the game, and who is I was surprised by the peremptoriness of the answer.
Harada also revealed that the release of PS4 and Xbox had already proposed crossplay between the two platforms for Tekken 7. However, at that time, Sony and Microsoft disagreed with each other on their mutual interests and the issue of P2P connection security, and repeatedly rejected Bandai Namco’s proposals.
If you are interested in learning more about the title, we invite you to find out how Tekken 8 has revolutionized the gameplay of the series.
Crossplay? Of course I will.
BTW
When the previous generation consoles were released, I had already proposed crossplay between the two platformers. However, at that time, they were at odds with each other over their mutual interests (and P2P security issue) & repeatedly refused. https://t.co/I8b38YfePh— Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN) April 9, 2023
already installed it, and it already has what you want. The reason WHY we don’t make big announcements like cross-play is Cuz even if we make big announcements, people like you will only say things like, “waaaa! That’s normal in this day and age.”
So shut up & sit the hell down. https://t.co/ZA1ZKMV9gC— Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN) April 9, 2023
