04/11/2023 at 3:15 p.m. by Rhonda Bachmann – After the American video portal Youtube had already tested an improved 1080p for its clips in the past, the company is now making it official. A new blog post highlighted special features for premium customers, including 1080p with an increased bitrate.
In a new blog post, Google recently presented five advantages of a premium subscription for its video platform YouTube. As a last point, the company surprised with a feature that has already been speculated about recently. We reported back in February that YouTube was testing the 1080p resolution with an increased bit rate. Now, the company announced that improved 1080p HD video quality would be rolling out to premium customers on iOS in the coming weeks.
Premium customers get better picture quality
“To offer our premium members an even better video experience, we will be rolling out a 1080p HD video quality and increased bitrate version for iOS in the coming weeks,” the blog post reads. A test for the web should also start soon. However, all users should still have access to 1080p video quality. However, the improved, higher-bitrate version, soon to be available for premium customers, is said to look particularly crisp and clear.
Another feature mentioned for subscribers was the queue function, which is also available on smartphones and tablets with Premium. Customers can also watch YouTube videos together with Meet Live Sharing on Android and SharePlay on iOS. In addition, it is also possible to watch videos again where you left off and download videos to your own devices.
The YouTube Premium subscription service is offered in various tariffs. In the normal tariff, the subscription costs 11.99 euros per month or 119.99 per year. Students can use the service for a limited period of four years for EUR 6.99, but the student status is checked annually. There is also a family tariff that up to six family members can access for EUR 17.99 per month.
