As the HBO Max platform prepares to change its name, the American channel is taking the opportunity to unveil its current projects. Beyond The Last of Us, Harry Potter series, here is “The Penguin”.
On the occasion of the transition from HBO Max to just “Max”, which will take effect on May 23, 2023, the famous video-on-demand platform is unveiling its upcoming content. Recently, we therefore had the right to formalize the Harry Potter series, which already promises a faithful adaptation of the cult books (no release date for the time being)… True Detective: Night Country – whose arrival is planned this year – also let themselves be approached in a first teaser. A funny animal
Do you remember The Batman? We are not talking about the basic license but about the eponymous film, released in 2022 and directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Planet of the Apes Confrontation | Supremacy). Yet another adaptation, even more gloomy than Nolan’s, with Robert Pattinson in the role of the Dark Knight… While waiting for the sequel – which will arrive on October 3, 2025 -, HBO offers us a series centered on Oswald Cobblepot aka “The Penguin” ! Alongside the Joker or Two-Face, he’s one of Gotham City’s biggest villains. The TV show will allow us to find the version of 2022, embodied on screen by Colin Farrell. In Reeves’ script, The Penguin, who prefers to be called “Oz”, is a mobster who manages the Iceberg Lounge, a facade that serves as a hiding place for many thugs.
In the first trailer unveiled (available in auto-play), HBO confirms that the series has now entered production. Release date: 2024. The scenario remains very mysterious for the moment, even if we suspect that Oswald Cobblepot will continue his dubious activities… Obviously, The Penguin will be available in France with the arrival of “Max” in France, also planned for next year.
