Joseph Piepiora, the associate game director of Diablo 4he revealed in an interview that most of the story content which will be added with periodic updates after the launch of the game will be limited timei.e. they will only be available during the course of the Season in which they were introduced.
For the uninitiated, Diablo 4 after its debut in stores will receive a big update every three months, or between one season and another, which introduces new story content, mechanics, game features and a Battle Pass.
In an interview granted to MMORPG, Piepiora explained that each season of Diablo 4 will have a specific theme and additional story content will be based on it. For this reason these elements will be available only and exclusively during the course of the season in which they were introduced and will continue to come removed with the next one. Basically, you’ll have three months to play them, otherwise you’ll miss them, probably forever.
There are however some exceptions to the rule. In fact, Piepiora explained that if story content is added that expands that of the base game or that will be linked to any future expansions, these will remain available forever and for all players.
“When it comes to expanding the story of Diablo 4, if there is content that will tie into the conclusion of the game leading to an expansion, or something similar that we may do in the future, then we would make sure that content is permanent and available.” for all players at any time.”
In the same interview, Piepiora also talked about the Diablo 4 Seasonal Battle Passes, which apparently will require 80 hours of gameplay to complete.
