Premium designs from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Palit
The next four custom designs of the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 presented yesterday have arrived at the PCGH test laboratory and are already being put through their paces by the editors. These include the Asus TUF Gaming OC, the Palit Jetstream, Gigabyte Aorus Master, and MSI Gaming X Trio.
In the following, we would like to introduce you to the four graphics cards and provide first impressions. The test of the Geforce RTX 4070 can already be found on PCGH.de as well as a detailed test of the Geforce RTX 4070 with DLSS 3.
Asus TUF Gaming OC Geforce RTX 4070
The Asus TUF Gaming OC Geforce RTX 4070 has a significantly higher clock rate of 2,550 MHz and 2,580 MHz both in default mode and in overclocking mode than Nvidia’s reference design, which starts the race with 2,475 MHz. 10+2 phases take care of sufficient voltage modulation.
The graphics card measuring 303 × 133 × 64 mm (L × W × H) has a very extensive cooling concept with a height of 3.25 slots, which is to be supplied with fresh air via three axial fans. Although this is one of the premium designs, which also already has factory OC, it is not the new 16-pin connector (“12VHPWR”) according to PCIe 5.0, but a conventional 8-pin connector for the power supply used.
Gigabyte Aorus Geforce RTX 4070 Master
The Gigabyte Aorus Geforce RTX 4070 Master represents the absolute spearhead in the manufacturer’s portfolio and ranks above the Aero OC, Gaming OC, Eagle OC and the Windforce OC, which was presented yesterday. The graphics card is overclocked to 2,595 MHz (+ 120 MHz) ex works and relies on a huge cooling concept with a height of 3.5 slots.
The expansive cooler with its three 108 mm axial fans contributes to the dimensions of 342 × 153 × 71 mm. For this, players also get a total of 9 heat pipes and an evaporator chamber (“Vapor Chamber”) as well as extensive RGB lighting (“RGB Halo”). A 12VHPWR connector with 16 pins takes care of the power supply.
Fire Geforce RTX 4070 Jetstream
The 3.1 slot high Palit Geforce RTX 4070 Jetstream measures 329 × 131 × 64 mm and offers a total of three so-called Gale Hunter fans, which are newly developed axial fans from the company.
With 2,475 MHz GPU clock and 21 GT/s fast GDDR6X, standard fare is offered, the same applies to the I/O area, which offers 3 × Displayport 1.4a and 1 × HDMI 2.1a. It is recognizable as one of the simple premium designs of the Geforce RTX 4070.
MSI Geforce RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio
The MSI Geforce RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio is still in the pipeline after a long stay at customs and has not yet arrived at the PCGH test laboratory. However, the official product page already provides the relevant information about the custom design measuring 338 × 141 × 52 mm.
MSI Geforce RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio Source: MSI The biggest conspicuous feature of the MSI Geforce RTX 4070 Gaming X Trio is the increased TDP or TGP (“Total Graphics Power”) from 200 to 215 watts, which should contribute to the significantly higher clock frequencies. The graphics card has a high factory OC of 2,625 MHz (+ 150 MHz) and is supplied with energy via a 16-pin connector (12VHPWR). As soon as we receive the MSI graphics card, we will determine its performance data.
