Whether you like video games or not, the iconic Super Mario theme music it is recognizable by anyone. And it is precisely for this reason that now the passage in question has become part of history Biblioteca del Congresso (Library of Congress).
The archive has recently been updated National Recording Registry, which contains all the musical pieces that, in one way or another, have made history and must be preserved. Among those added to the collection in 2023 we also find the Super Mario Theme by Koji Kondo and published in the now distant 1985almost forty years ago. This is the first video game-related song that becomes part of the American historical archive and it cannot be excluded that the sudden entry of the musical theme into the National Recording Registry has something to do with the recent arrival of Super Mario Bros. the film.
For those wondering, among other songs that have been selected for the same purpose we also find Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ di Mariah Carey e ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon.
