PlayStation 5 made its triumphal march in Japan last month, winning a very important first place in the Land of the Rising Sun market for Sony hardware. The success of PS5 shows no sign of stopping, as demonstrated by the latest sales data from the East.
Also very good for the recent Nintendo exclusive landed on Nintendo Switch: Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe conquered Japan in March and continues to do so according to estimates relating to the geographical area in question. Kirby and PS5 therefore win first place, respectively, for the software and hardware section of the reference market, but what other names are on the list? Below is the complete list.

PlayStation 5 – 39,836, of which 2,826,327 total; OLED Switches Model – 37,536. The total value is equal to 4,181,349 units; Switches – 8,991, of which 19,261,351 total; PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 6,369. The total value for the Japanese market amounts to 455,911 platforms; Switch Lite – 5,983. Estimates reveal that Nintendo’s portable console has sold a total of 5,270,208 units; PlayStation 4 – 1,211, of which 7,864,825 total; Xbox Series X – 739. The total number of consoles sold stands at 184,436 units; Xbox Series S – 178 units, of which 251,277 total on Japanese soil; New 2DS and Nintendo 2DS – 64, of which 1,191,170 total.
The results demonstrate the great growth of PlayStation on Japanese soila place where Sony’s gaming brand has always enjoyed a very important success, even in the face of the increasingly significant growth of the competition (see the total units of Xbox Series X and Series S).
