A few days ago we told you about the launch of a multiplayer mod of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, through which players were having fun exploring the world of Hyrule as multiple Links. After an initial intervention aimed at eliminating the videos from the network, Nintendo has achieved the complete removal of the mod.
We are well aware of Nintendo’s rigidity when it comes to unofficial material related to its franchises, and also on this occasion the Kyoto house used an iron fist to predictably put an end to the short life of the mod. Users AlexMangue and Sweet accepted YouTuber PointCrow’s $10,000 offer to make online multiplayer content in the popular open world, but the project didn’t go very far after its completion.
I download links have been completely removed: “I removed the mods from Discord as they are currently in talks with Nintendo,” explains PointCrow. “That’s all I can share right now, please no speculation and know that I will update you as much as possible.” In its operation, Nintendo also removed other mod videos of the game along with some standard Breath of the Wild game content that got caught in the crossfire.
PointCrow appeals to the great Nin the hope that the passion with which its community creates fanmade content will be valued and encouraged by the company, rather than ostracized.
“Don’t take away our creativity. These channels that you’ve targeted – these videos that you’re reclaiming – are from some of the people who are most passionate about your games. You are stifling that imagination and punishing those who want to share it with others when they do so in the way you have outlined for us content creators.”
