The file size of the forthcoming “Star Wars Jedi” offshoot is extraterrestrial: You must have well over 100 GB free to play the science fiction adventure.
It is already clear that “Star Wars Jedi Survivor” is more extensive than its predecessor: Design Director Jeff Magers betrayed in an interview earlier this month that the second part was “greatly expanded.”
Bigger on PS5 than Xbox
The players get to feel this during the installation. As we learned today, the file size is a whopping 147 gigabytes!
You even need 155 gigabytes of free storage space on your PC to be able to download the action-adventure game. The Xbox Series X/S version, on the other hand, is 139 gigabytes in size, while the slimmed-down Xbox Series S version is just 44 GB.
There can only be two explanations for the massive file size: either the size is significantly larger than expected or the game is poorly optimized.
If your hard drive is already heavily used, you must make room for it. Or you can expand your storage by getting an SSD like the Samsung 980 Pro. This PS5 compatible model is currently at Media Markt for only 94.99 euros. This is the 1 TB version.
In the comments of the PlayStation Game Size tweet, users are amazed. One writes, “I never thought I’d see the day a single-player game would beat Call of Duty in terms of game size.” Another points to the Kraken tech, which doesn’t seem to have an impact here.
