FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a letter addressed to UAF President Andriy Pavelko expressed his condolences in connection with the recent premature death of the famous Ukrainian football player Pavel Shkapenko.
“Dear President! I would like to express my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on the death of former footballer Pavel Shkapenko. Words don’t seem to be enough to express the sadness we feel over this loss.
On behalf of the members of the international football community, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the Ukrainian Football Association, and most importantly, to Pavel’s family, friends and relatives.
We hope that the memories and our words of support will help bring peace and comfort at this difficult moment,” the letter says.
Former player of the Ukrainian national team, Metalurh Zaporozhye, Dynamo Kyiv and CSKA Pavel Shkapenko passed away at the age of 51 on April 17.
