As in the case of the base game, some locations turned out to be very similar.
In the Burning Shores add-on for Horizon Forbidden West, Aloy changes location: the girl goes to explore post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits showed how close the locations from the game are to reality.
In the Horizon universe, humanity fell a long time ago, but some buildings are well preserved. For example, the TCL Chinese Theatre, some bridges and the headquarters of the city’s police department are still recognizable.
Other places were not so lucky. Part of the city went under water: the Waldorf Astoria Hotel was flooded, Beverly Hills can now also be seen only with scuba gear. But the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier is still standing.
In Horizon Forbidden West, the developers also recreated quite a lot of sights from the real world. You can see places from real San Francisco in a virtual city here.
