April 23, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. by Sven Bauduin – The new Minisforum B550 Pro from the Uranus series is a mini PC that, thanks to its exciting housing concept, can accommodate dedicated graphics cards with a length of up to 30 centimeters. The basis for this is the eponymous B550 chipset from AMD.
The Minisforum B550 Pro “Uranus”, the full name of the particularly compact mini PC in the “NUC form factor”, draws attention to itself with an extremely unusual housing concept. Thanks to an optional case extension, which integrates the small complete system as a case in the case, dedicated graphics cards with a maximum length of 30 centimeters and a cooling solution in a dual-slot design can be used. The basis is the AM4 platform.
Mini PC can adapt to graphics card
The space offered by the mini PC, which measures just 169 × 160 × 67 mm, can be significantly expanded with the optional graphics card extension. The dimensions of the Minisforum B550 Pro “Uranus”, which in this case is positioned inside the extension, then of course also increase accordingly.
In addition to the full-fledged desktop processors of the AM4 platform, the fast AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D represents the maximum, the tiny desktop also accepts graphics cards with an edge length of up to 300 mm and supplies them sufficiently via PCIe 3.0 x16. Officially, the Minisforum B550 Pro also supports up to 64 GiByte DDR4-3200 and multiple NVMe SSDs. In the evolution stage with add-on, the computer measures 320 × 170 × 160 mm.

Available soon at unknown prices
