Effective active noise reduction
Bang & Olufsen often stand out for their very sharp design and clean lines. The Beoplay EQs also benefit from neat finishes, a very sober black color, and are covered with anodized aluminum resistant to marks, scratches or even high temperatures. In order for the headphones to be well adapted to their user, four pairs of silicone tips and one pair of insulating memory foam are supplied with the headphones. Thus, inserted into the ear canal, the Beoplay EQs will be able to provide good passive isolation, which is essential to offer good active noise reduction.
Precisely, that proposed by these Beoplay EQ is quite convincing. Depending on the sound level of your outside environment, the headphones will be able to calibrate the level of isolation, and the six microphones will filter the surrounding sounds, including when you make a call in a noisy place. Specifically, on each earphone, two microphones will be responsible for analyzing external sounds in real time to produce a phase inversion and reduce them. A “transparency” mode is also available to listen to your surroundings without having to remove the headphones from your ears.
Good sound performance
The Beoplay EQs also stand out for their sound quality: equipped with rather compact 6.8 mm electrodynamic transducers, they will be able to deliver balanced spatial sound. We may regret the highs that are not highlighted enough. Add to that compatibility with the SBC and AAC Bluetooth audio codecs, but also aptX Adaptive, Qualcomm’s most advanced codec which notably promises a latency of 50 to 80 ms and high speed. On the brand’s application, you can also modify the sound signature of the headphones thanks to an integrated equalizer.
Finally, on the autonomy side, the brand promises 6.5 hours of use of the headphones with active noise reduction and 7.5 hours in passive mode. The case is equipped with a 340 mAh battery and can be recharged via USB-C, or using wireless charging.
