05/05/2023 at 10:30 a.m. by Philipp Sattler – With the start of WoW Patch 10.1, the healers changed their weapon enchantments in rows and resorted to the new enchantment Spore Shepherd. However, this was apparently so strong that the developers intervened immediately and more or less nerfed it to death.
Healers in WoW are always walking a tightrope. Because while more DpS actually always helps, more healing is relatively useless from a certain point. The better the party plays, the less healing is needed. Many healers have therefore long accepted that their job involves more than just keeping the other players alive.
Healers, for example, cause damage that is not to be despised and take on many special tasks that would cause too much loss for the damage dealers – including the unpopular explosive balls. The use of DpS jewelry is no longer a rarity. With the new weapon enchantment coming into play in patch 10.1, healers could now do more for the party on this front as well…at least until the nerf.

Spore Herder – more secondary stats for others
Most weapon enchantments in WoW (buy now) provide a bonus, be it damage or healing, to the wielder of the weapon. With the new VZ it was different.
Weapon: Spore Shepherd – Your healing spells have a chance to send a cloud of spores at the target of your heals. This increases the target’s highest secondary stat by 1003 for 12 seconds.
This gave the healers the opportunity to passively increase the DpS of the group or raid and of course also improve the survivability of the tank. Many healers have switched to the new weapon VZ in the past few days and will probably have to switch back now.
Apparently, the effect was too strong for the developers, so the devs unpacked the Nerf club and hit it hard. The effect has been reduced by a whopping 73 percent! The enchantment still supports your allies, but significantly less. It remains to be seen whether it is still worth giving up your own values for this.
In any case, the developers were quick and didn’t waste any time with the nerf. Maybe they simply underestimated how many healers, despite the 25 percent nerf to all healing, voluntarily want to forgo further healing to strengthen their group. We’re curious to see if the new Sporeherd enchantment will still be used.
