Google released the second beta of Android 14 for Pixel smartphones during Google I/O 2023. Google has expanded its mobile OS beta program for more manufacturers to test on their smartphones. These include OnePlus, Nothing, Xiaomi, and Oppo, among others. Here are the new features and fixes in Android 14 Beta 2.
.Although the first Android 14 beta for Pixel smartphones introduced a host of new features for testers and developers to try out, the firmware also encountered a lot of complications and bugs. Google was able to fix some issues through an emergency Beta 1.1 update.
As a continuation of this initiative, Android 14 Beta 2 is currently being rolled out to Pixels. The latest update should not only eliminate the annoying issues of the first beta, but also add some features and changes visible to end users.
Android 14 Beta 2 fixes
One of the most notable improvements in Beta 2 is the predictive return gesture. Previously, the feature was only visible in the system and official apps. Today, it allows developers to enable gestures in their applications and apply the necessary custom animations.
As for other animation-related items, the effects applied to the wallpaper and style have been updated. In addition, a font size setting has been added to the quick drop-down menu, while a long press on any app on the home screen provides simplified information and options.
Pixel users enrolled in the beta should notice that the Keyboard section is now separate from Languages and Input. You will find in the settings that the language and the keyboard are displayed individually.

What’s new in the Android 14 update
In addition to Beta 2, Android 14 received new features in general. There is support for 10-bit HDR images called Ultra HDR. A compatible photo smartphone is required to activate this format.
Additionally, users can expect better low-light photos in Android 14. Camera extensions such as focus and processing time are also improved.
Google is also emphasizing the addition of graphic features in its next mobile operating system. It now leverages the capabilities of GPU hardware. Regarding audio, lossless formats for USB headsets will also be supported. Finally, the Health Connect app will be pre-installed on Android 14 and data security will be more visible to users.
