“Scrappage bonus” when buying new graphics cards…
Background: scrapping bonus for graphics cards
Calendar week 19 was relatively quiet and civilized – but at least one exciting topic spilled over the pond to us. The Nvidia board partner Colorful is currently offering an interesting exchange for PC gamers living in China: Old Geforce cards from the RTX 30 (Ampere), RTX 20 (Turing) series and the GTX-16 rasterizing GPUs belonging to the Turing architecture series can be traded in for an RTX 40 card (Ada Lovelace). Anyone who trades in colorful cards such as the RTX 2060 or GTX 1660 Super will receive a discount of 110 to 120 euros when buying a new RTX 40 graphics card from the manufacturer. When handing in a former high-end GPU like the RTX 3090 (Ti), trade-in values of the equivalent of 780 to 940 euros are possible – that’s more than you can get for it on the used market. The fact that this action caused a stir is not unexpected, because modern graphics cards cost a lot of money and a fair “scrapping bonus” is very useful here. We asked the PCGH team what they think of the idea. And what do you think of that, dear readers? Discuss with us!
