Although it has never completely gone out of fashion, this year the horror genre has tried to revive itself by looking back. Thus, after the excellent remakes of Resident Evil 4 Dead Space, it will soon be enriched with the remake of Silent Hill 2which Konami has entrusted to the expert hands of Bloober Team, former author of Observer and The Medium.
If you’re a fan of the horror genre, then we imagine you can’t wait for it to hit shelves. However, we must make two important clarifications in this regard. First of all, although the development now seems close to the end, there is still no definitive release date. Furthermore, Silent Hill 2 Remake will initially be released only on PC and PlayStation 5therefore at the time of launch will not be available on Xbox Series X|S.
The console exclusivity period, the result of an agreement with Sony, will last in any case twelve months. The remake of Silent Hill 2 will also be able to arrive on other platforms a year after its debut, although now there are no more precise time indications. The time frame of twelve months should be understood as minimum waiting periodthe horror could also take longer before landing on Microsoft’s home consoles.
Silent Hill 2 Remake, we recall, is being worked on with the help of the new generation graphics engine Unreal Engine 5. The development team, which can boast among its ranks veterans such as Masahiro Ito as Creature Designer and Akira Yamaoka as composer, is working hard to keep the spirit of the original intact, without however failing to modernize it in some of its components. In fact, one of the most important innovations is a third-person camera behind the protagonist.
