The big June Xbox Games Showcase this year will run for about 2 hours, of which 30 minutes will be dedicated to Starfield Direct (featuring gameplay from Bethesda’s upcoming game). Thus, new items from Xbox studios and partners, excluding Starfield, will take 90 minutes. Which studios are planning to show their games on the show is still unknown, but there was information that Compulsion Games could become one of these studios.
The Compulsion Games studio was acquired by the Xbox team back in 2018, since then they have not announced a single new game. Their last release is also dated 2018 – this is the game We Happy Few, which was released on Xbox, Playstation and PC. In 2021, there were rumors that the Compulsion Games team was working on two projects: Project Midnight (a third-person action game in a dark fantasy world) and Project Velvet (no information about the project). It looks like one of these games will be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Players have noticed that Compulsion Games is looking for a Community Manager. Their social networks have been quiet for a long time, and, judging by the vacancy, the team intends to revive them. A community manager may be needed if a studio plans to introduce a game that is close to release, to run marketing campaigns, communicate with the audience, and prepare players for the release of the project.
It is worth saying that since joining the Xbox publishing house, the Compulsion Games studio has expanded significantly – from 40 people to about 100 people. Apparently, the studio’s new game is a high-budget AAA-project, earlier there was information about the collaboration of Compulsion Games with Faceware.
